National Unity Platform supporters in Bundibugyo District are accusing security personnel of blocking their supporters from accessing the campaign venue for today's presidential campaign. Presidential candidate Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi has his campaigns scheduled to be held at Kirumya playgrounds in Kirumya Sub County.

Vincent Baluku, one of the supporters says security personnel who include the police and UPDF has mounted roadblocks along all routes leading to the venue thus denying people access.

He adds that they have been told by those manning the checkpoints that they got orders to regulate all persons who are coming to the venue from the RDC.  He questioned why campaigns are that restricted in a democratic country, claiming that these were delay tactics from the officers to deny supporters the chance to see and listen to their candidate.

Amis Haruna another NUP supporter says they were surprised by the high-security deployment at the venue and surrounding areas.

"There are roadblocks everywhere leading to the venue. The officers are diverting people but you wonder why they have to be here in such numbers" he said.

Tuhairwe Asiimwe another supporter wants the deployment to be regulated and put out of the routes connecting to the venue.

Franklin Muhindo, the NUP District Chairperson says they had a harmonized program with the district security committee but wonders why they have mounted roadblocks in every point leading to the venue.

He says they are planning to move to another venue they feel people can easily access.

The Bundibugyo Resident District Commissioner Grace Asiimwe says they deployment is normal to avert any eventualities that might arise.
